The short answer

  • Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around February 8, 2027. Eid al-Fitr is expected around March 9 or 10, and Eid al-Adha around May 16 or 17, 2027. Final dates depend on moon sighting.
  • Messages about one customer’s order, such as an order confirmation or a delivery date before Eid, can be Utility. Ramadan offers, Eid greetings and “order by” announcements to your list are Marketing.
  • In Saudi Arabia, 5,000 Eid greetings cost $288.00 at Meta’s marketing rate, while 5,000 order confirmations cost $53.50 at the utility rate.
  • Meta supports Arabic templates (ar) and regional variants such as UAE Arabic (ar_AE). Meta doesn’t translate templates, so you submit each language as its own version.
  • Submit Ramadan templates by mid-January 2027. Meta’s review can take up to 24 hours.

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around Monday, February 8, 2027, based on projections by the UAE’s Astronomy Centre. Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days, and each country confirms its dates by moon sighting, so plan for a day either way.

Which Ramadan messages are utility and which are marketing

A Ramadan message is utility only when it is about one customer’s order and contains no promotion. Anything sent to your list to drive sales or goodwill, including a greeting, is marketing under Meta’s guidelines.

Sending WhatsApp messages during Ramadan

Keep order messages instant and move campaigns away from iftar. An order confirmation should still go out within minutes of the order, while the customer remembers it. Campaigns are different: many customers are busy breaking their fast with family around sunset, so schedule offers for other times of day.

  • Use last Ramadan’s orders as your guide. Check the hours when orders came in during Ramadan 2026 and send campaigns shortly before those peaks.
  • Give replies more time. Orders with no answer stay unconfirmed and easy to filter in Shopify. Wait a little longer before calling those customers during Ramadan.
  • Match support hours to your messages. Customers reply to campaigns. Make sure someone can answer in the evening, from the WhatsApp Business App or a shared WhatsApp team inbox.

Delivery cut-offs before Eid

Your last order date before Eid is your courier’s last delivery day before its Eid holiday, minus your processing time and the courier’s usual delivery time. Work it out early and communicate it in three places:

    Ask your courier for its Eid schedule

    Confirm the last pickup and delivery days before Eid and the first working day after it, for each city you ship to.
  2. 2

    Announce the cut-off to opted-in customers

    Send the Last order date before Eid template three to five days before the cut-off, and show the same date on your store’s banner.
  3. 3

    Message every order near the cut-off

    Send the Delivery before Eid template to orders that will arrive in time, and the Order that will arrive after Eid template to orders that won’t, so customers can cancel before you ship instead of refusing the parcel.

Ramadan checklist for Shopify stores

Start in mid-January 2027 by submitting your templates, and finish after Eid by switching back to your year-round messages:

  • By mid-January 2027: write the English and Arabic versions of the templates you need and submit them. Meta’s review can take up to 24 hours per template.
  • Before Ramadan: collect marketing opt-in with a WhatsApp signup popup. Meta requires the opt-in to name your business.
  • First day of Ramadan: switch your order confirmation flow to the Ramadan version and keep the same Shopify tags.
  • Two weeks before Eid: get your courier’s Eid schedule and set your last order date.
  • Last ten days: send the cut-off announcement once, and message orders that will arrive after Eid.
  • Eid morning: send the greeting to opted-in customers only.
  • After Eid: switch back to your year-round templates.
